The Bremen-based Dettmer Group has taken over LHU Luft Hafen Umschlag, the largest air cargo handling company at Hamburg airport.

The new ownership follows the insolvency of LHU’s former owner, the Carl Tiedemann Group. Despite changing hands, the company and the employment of the staff remain safe.

Dettmer Group already owns LUG aircargo handling at Frankfurt and Munich airports, making the company a reliable and experienced handler of air cargo. With the addition of LHU, the Dettmer Group grows its presence in the German air cargo market.

The family-owned Dettmer Group controls enterprises in the field of shipping, air cargo handling, container packing, storage and transshipment, rail logistics, tank farms and kerosene pipeline from the head office in Bremen.

Heiner Dettmer, owner and CEO of the Dettmer Group, is looking forward to a successful partnership with the team at LHU. "The affiliation of LHU with LUG aircargo handling will open new opportunities. The excellent connections of LUG to airlines worldwide airlines will help to raise cargo volumes in Hamburg,” Dettmer commented.
