SAHCO handles first vaccine shipment

Comment on this article

Skyway Aviation Handling Company has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing ground handling for the AstraZeneca vaccines at Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, in Nigeria.

SAHCO is actually present at all the commercially operated airports in Nigeria, and will assist in the roll-out operation. Helping the situation is the fact that SAHCO has well trained staff with CEIV certifications that qualifies the handler for the movement and storage of pharmaceuticals. Usefully, the cool room sequence includes the use of data loggers to help closely monitor the cold chain. In addition, SAHCO is providing effective transit ground handling services to client airlines.

In a related development, SAHCO has acquired a new fleet of Goldhofer Sherpa tractors to boost its fleet of GSE. Separately, for animal movements, SAHCO has constructed a temperature-conditioned Animal Parlour for those who want to import or export animals through SAHCO's warehouse in Lagos. SAHCO is certified with RA3 and IATA’s Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO), which illustrates the high level of commitment to training, enabling SAHCO to become effectively a one-stop-shop .
