The solution, which consists of a digital front desk and slot booking system, improves the flow of picking up and dropping off freight in Los Angeles.
Using the system, Menzies makes dock doors available for slot reservation with freight forwarders and trucking companies reserving a time slot to pick up or drop off freight.
Menzies knows who is coming when, with the information displayed on a big screen at the front desk and in the warehouse.
When arriving and departing, truck drivers register at the Digital Desk, which runs on an iPad that is installed in the registration are and is available in Spanish and English.
In the future, the system will be fully integrated with Menzies’ back-end system.
Petr Cizek, General Manager at Menzies Aviation, said Menzies trucks would turn up unannounced, creating congestion, saying: “Today, trucking companies and freight forwarders book a slot according to our availability. This eliminates wait times and it enables us to offer a better and faster service at the dock door, since we can plan staff and prepare freight for the scheduled pick ups and drop offs. As a result, we are delivering a better service to our customers.”
Jean Verheyen, CEO of Nallian, added: “With our Truck Visit Management Solution we wish to empower ground handling agents and cargo warehouse operators to make optimal use of their resources – dock door and staff – and deliver their customers a better service. The implementation at Menzies illustrates that our solution not only works in a community setting but also for individual companies who want to digitalise and optimise their freight handover process.”
